ROAM THE EMPIRE Weekly Update

Aug 6, 2021

- Happy August! Summer is still very much alive in New York State, which we can see with all the exciting August events right around the corner. We'd like to take the time to thank all our members who have continued to share the campaign in their posts since its launch.

If you have not been keeping up with the campaign, there's never been a better time to start than now. Let's keep up the momentum by sharing with New Yorkers all the amazing benefits that come to our communities as they Roam The Empire. You can always use the hashtag #RoamTheEmpire or tag us at @RoamTheEmpire to drive the sentiment in your posts.

FLX Wine Month:

We'd like to thank Stephanie Specchio of Watkins Glen Chamber for letting us know that August is Finger Lakes Wine Month! They used the free Roam The Empire campaign assets to put together this amazing graphic, and we teamed up to help them promote this month-long event. We encourage all of our members to like and share the post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to spread the word.

Do you have a celebration you'd like to share? Share it with us and we'll be happy to promote it!

Roaming Ahead

The US Tennis Association's Eastern Section is returning to Schenectady's Central Park for their annual Adult League Sectional Championships starting this weekend. Partnering with Discover Schenectady to host hundreds of amateur tennis players throughout New York State, northern & central New Jersey and southern Connecticut, men and women players will return to compete in this flagship event.

We're so glad that this multi-weekend event is back on after a year's hiatus from the pandemic. The championship in the Capital region is another reason for tennis lovers to explore all the area has to offer as they Roam The Empire! You can read the full press release here.

George Eastman Museum featured on @photographmag:

Instagram user @photographmag shared the George Eastman Museum's 'Bea Nettles: Harvest of Memory' on Wednesday to their over 270,000 followers. We are overjoyed to see the amazing art from New York State featured on such a page and welcoming visitors back to the exhibit in Rochester.

Tell us what to tell New Yorkers:

Every destination is unique, and we want to know those special qualities of your destination that can't be found on your website. Let us know how we can promote your destination by taking our partner survey and our summer events survey.

Weekly Post Highlight:

One of our furry friends in the Finger Lakes took a sunny drive around Candice Lake to Roam The Empire. According to the report, "Her trip was sunny and full of tail wags"...we think she looked pretty stylish, too.

They give out motorcycle licenses to just about everyone these days 😉

Thank you for your commitment to the campaign week in and week out. Even with all the amazing events and activities going on in New York, the partnership and support from our members have made the Empire State feel a little bit smaller. Let's continue to rally New Yorkers for New York during these last few weeks of summer!

We wish you a wonderful weekend full of NY adventures. Be sure to share your own trips, hikes, and NYS foods with the hashtag #RoamTheEmpire.
