- Survey Expertise? The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Needs YOU! The NYSTIA DEI committee is looking for someone with expertise in developing surveys, specifically structuring questions appropriately so that we get valid results. Our goal is to develop a survey that will provide our committee and NYSTIA with a baseline of where the membership is currently with regards to DEI and to learn how NYSTIA can help members in this area. This would be a short-term focused committee assignment. Our hope is to complete the survey by the end of March. Committee Update: Our committee has met 4 times since November with the goal of formalizing a workplan for 2021 including our committee mission, vision, focus pillars and 2021 priorities. This plan is still a work in progress as the committee decided we needed to get input from NYSTIA membership to help us identify priorities. We have created two working sub-groups. One to focus on creating a survey to get a baseline of where the membership is currently with regards to DEI and to learn how NYSTIA can help members in this area. A second sub-group is meeting to discuss ideas for speakers and topics related to DEI that can be part of the NYSTC in April. We will have recommendations from both of these sub-groups by the end of the month.
We currently have 9 committee members as follows: Olga Tirado, Karen Kuhl, Nikita Jankowski, Michael Hardy, John Percy, Tim James, Dionne Williamson, Linda Ayers and Chair, Nicole Mahoney.
