COVID RELIEF Coalition: ACTIVATING ON CORONAVIRUS RELIEF

Oct 22, 2020

- Tori Barnes

U.S. Travel and the COVID RELIEF NOW Coalition continue to put as much pressure as possible on Congress and the administration to reach a deal to provide COVID relief immediately. Majority Leader McConnell has committed to holding two votes this week for smaller, targeted bills that would provide $500 billion for various forms of relief—including the option for a second Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, $16 billion for testing and contact tracing in states and liability protections for COVID-related claims, among other measures. Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin continued negotiations today with the hopes of reaching a bipartisan deal on a broader relief package by the end of the week.

With just two weeks left until the 2020 election, the window for any relief is closing quickly. It is essential that we are as loud as possible right now in our demands to Congress and the Administration and we need your help to urge movement.

Use our suite of COVID RELIEF NOW materials to help get this message to Congress, including a social guide, messaging points, fact sheet and action alert.

Thanks to all of you who have engaged over the last several months—we are so appreciative of your efforts—but we must keep working to make sure travel and tourism are top of mind across Capitol Hill and in the administration. Please activate and engage however you can this week.
