Job Description/Responsibilities

The New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) is growing! We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and dedicated colleague to help take our organization to the next level. The Director of Programs and Strategic Partnerships will help the NYSEDC oversee all NYSEDC events and programming, manage and implement new initiatives, and identify new strategic partnerships to help the NYSEDC achieve and expand its mission. With economic development strategies evolving rapidly to keep up with a 21st-century economy, each day presents new opportunities in a fast-paced and growing industry, as we work together in a culture of open communication and collaboration. Competitive salary and benefits will be provided. Duties for this position include:

Strategic Management, Initiative, and Funding:

  • Identify and develop new strategic initiatives and programming the NYSEDC can coordinate, lead, and manage.
  • Identify and apply for new grant funding opportunities for the organization; secure alignment with strategic partners where needed to apply, administer, and implement.
  • Help identify and secure new funding for initiatives outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Secure sponsorships for all NYSEDC programming
  • Work on securing reimbursement for all active grant projects through industry attraction conferences and events.
  • Manage key relationships with strategic partners, including but not limited to Empire State Development, National Grid, NYSEG/RG&E

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Work with the executive director, staff, program committee, and general membership to identify topics and speakers for all NYSEDC programming.
  • Oversee the coordination and planning of all professional development events
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of Semiconductor Conferences and IAMC Forum events including Semicon West, Semi SIA, and Semi ISS, IAMC Spring and Fall
    Forum events.
  • Develop and manage a budget, achieving financial goals for IAMC Forums and All Industry Attraction Events.
  • Identify locations/facilities and confirm dates, caterers, and rentals; negotiate costs with vendors; help retain speakers and travel/planning arrangements; coordinate food and accommodations for all NYSEDC programming, including EDC Conference, Annual Meeting, BASIC training course, and IDA Academies
  • Oversee collecting speaker headshots and bios for NYSEDC Conferences and Events

General Duties:

  • Represent the NYSEDC at member functions and other events.
  • Provide reporting on all functions to the executive director and be prepared to present reports at board meetings.
  • File documentation for record-keeping related to the above duties.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and at least eight years relevant experience in economic development and/or association management. Any specific economic development training or accreditation is a plus. Some travel is required.

Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000 and competitive benefits package offered
