Job Description/Responsibilities
Reports To: President
The Communications Marketing Manager drives Oneida County Tourism’s brand, marketing, and communications initiatives. This role leads creative campaigns and storytelling that inspire travel to the region, manages agency and vendor relationships, oversees digital and print communications, and ensures consistency and measurable results across all marketing channels. The position will play a key role in supporting Oneida County’s continued growth as a premier destination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the destination’s rebrand and website updates with internal teams and external partners.
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns that promote visitation and local pride.
- Manage relationships with marketing and social media agencies to align strategy, creative, and campaign performance.
- Oversee production of the annual Travel Guide and other collateral.
- Maintain brand consistency and provide direction to ensure a cohesive identity.
- Write and edit blogs, press releases, and monthly newsletters (B2C and B2B).
- Keep website content fresh—updating photos and copy, coordinating with the web agency for major changes.
- Track and report on campaign performance, website analytics, and newsletter engagement.
- Develop and pitch media stories that position Oneida County as a must-visit destination.
- Coordinate press trips, influencer visits, and media missions in target markets.
- Write and distribute press releases, manage the Meltwater platform, and track earned media coverage.
- Serve as a resource to journalists and collaborate with regional tourism partners.
- Oversee social media strategy and content in partnership with an external agency.
- Review and approve posts for branded initiatives such as the CNY Cheese Trail and Heart of NY Craft Beverage Trail.
- Occasionally participate in or assist with on-camera interviews, short videos, and partner features that highlight community stories and tourism initiatives.
- Manage influencer partnerships, contracts, and content deliverables.
- Support email and CRM outreach campaigns.
- Maintain and organize photography and video assets in Cleanpix and CrowdRiff.
- Utilize analytics and CRM reporting to evaluate marketing ROI and inform strategy.
- Assist with budget tracking, invoices, and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with local and regional tourism partners to amplify destination visibility.
- Represent Oneida County Tourism at select trade shows, media events, and professional conferences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine enthusiasm for connecting with people.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for Oneida County, and/or a willingness to learn about the area’s assets.
- Ability to confidently work independently and collaboratively in a small, fast-paced team environment.
- Familiarity with Oneida County’s communities and attractions preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Additional Information:
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for events and meetings.
- Some regional travel within Oneida County and Central New York.
- Occasional national travel for educational industry events.
- Hybrid schedule available after onboarding.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, with flexibility for evening and weekend events. Remote work options are available after the onboarding period.
