Washington County Planning Department is currently seeking a Tourism & Economic Development Specialist*. This position is within the Washington County Planning Department and is responsible for coordinating and managing relationships with Washington County’s Tourism Marketing Agency to promote tourism, as well as retain and attract businesses. Duties comprise both typical tourism and economic development tasks that will support the growth of the economy of the County. Duties performed under the direction of the Director of Economic Development. Does related work as required.
*This is a Civil Service Competitive position. Provisional appointee must take a future-dated exam and be reachable on the resulting Eligible List for permanent appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, planning, public administration, public relations, education or a closely related field, and one (1) year of experience in business, economics, marketing, planning, public administration, public relations, tourism promotion, finance, grant writing or closely related field; OR
2. Possession of an associate degree in in business, economics, marketing, planning, public administration, public relations, education or a closely related field, and three (3) years of experience in business, economics, marketing, planning, public administration, public relations, tourism promotion, finance, grant writing or closely related field; OR
3. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in business, economics, marketing, planning, public administration, public relations, tourism promotion, finance, grant writing or closely related field.

RESIDENCY: Washington County Residency Preferred

SALARY: $70,000/year plus excellent benefits'
