Webinar: Laying the Groundwork for a Tourism Recovery in NYC

Sep 4, 2020

- Wednesday, September 9 at 10:00 AM -

No part of New York City's economy has been hit harder by the COVID-19 pandemic—or is facing a longer road to recovery—than the tourism sector. Prior to the crisis, the sector had reached new heights, employing more than 300,000 New Yorkers, producing vital tax revenue for the city, attracting record visitation, and helping to sustain accessible jobs at hotels, restaurants, museums and theaters, airports, retailers, and in many other industries.

This forum will explore how city leaders and policymakers can lay the groundwork for a long-term recovery in tourism, what can be done now to support struggling businesses and institutions in the tourism economy, whether there is an opportunity to boost local and regional tourism, and what kind of marketing and tourism promotion for New York makes most sense right now. The panel will also discuss what New York can learn from other major cities working to restart tourism during this crisis, including input and ideas from leading tourism officials in London, Montreal, and San Francisco.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Council Member Keith Powers, New York City Council
  • Fred Dixon, NYC & Company
  • Joe D'Alessandro, San Francisco Travel
  • Tracy Halliwell, ‎ London & Partners
  • Emmanuelle Legault, Tourisme Montréal
