Valerie Knoblauch “Yearn to Learn” Tourism Scholarship

Finger Lakes Visitors Connection (FLVC), in partnership with the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA), proudly announces the Valerie Knoblauch “Yearn to Learn” Scholarship.

Created in recognition of Valerie Knoblauch’s nearly five decades of leadership in NY’s tourism industry, the scholarship reflects her lifelong belief in continuous learning, mentorship, and professional growth. Unlike traditional academic scholarships, the Yearn to Learn Scholarship supports practical professional development experiences that help strengthen the tourism and hospitality workforce. Scholarship funds may be used to support participation in:

  • Industry conferences and seminars
  • Professional workshops and training programs
  • Certification programs
  • Mentorship or internship opportunities
  • Other approved tourism and hospitality learning experiences

The scholarship is open to individuals working in or preparing for careers in travel, tourism, and hospitality, including professionals, small business employees, destination organization staff, and students.

The program particularly encourages applications from those connected to small hospitality businesses, retail operations, and destination organizations, though applicants from across the industry are welcome.
