This week’s Wednesday Webinar featured David Brett and Karl Llewellyn from Wheresight, who shared practical strategies for helping tourism operators improve their digital presence and boost visitor conversion.
They explained how DMOs can audit and benchmark their operators’ digital maturity, identify weak spots, and build clear, action-focused roadmaps for improvement. By addressing gaps like outdated booking systems, slow websites, and lack of online availability, destinations can “mend the leaky bucket” and see stronger returns on their marketing investments.
David and Karl emphasized that digital maturity isn’t just technology — it’s also leadership, customer experience, operational capability, and skills development. Their five-pillar framework and phased mentorship approach help operators progress at a manageable pace while DMOs gain useful aggregated data to guide future decisions.
Key takeaways: Improving digital maturity leads to higher conversion, better visitor experiences, and stronger destination performance.
Huge thank you again to David and Karl for sharing their time, as well as everyone who attended! Please see the slide deck for more detail, and the recording above.
