Fundraising and Gathering Memories for the Linehan Family

Feb 17, 2017

Michael, President & CEO of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, and a long time champion for the statewide tourism industry, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 15th.

Cards of condolence for the Linehan family may be sent to Molly Linehan at 327 Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.

Donations: Many of you have generously reached out to NYSTIA asking if there is anything you can do, or if there is any kind of fund set up for Mike's family, which also includes daughters Meaghan (9) and Morgen (7). The Finger Lakes Regional Tourism Council and Finger Lakes Wine Country have set up a Linehan family donation account with Lyons National Bank (LNB), for any funds you may wish to contribute. Here's how:

The savings account is titled: Mike Linehan Family Fund.

Donating options:

  • Stop at any LNB Branch and requesting to make a deposit to the "Mike Linehan Family Fund" OR
  • Mail a check payable to: Mike Linehan Family Fund, c/o FLRTC, PO Box 1011 Pittsford, NY 14534 OR
  • Utilize this GoFundMe option set up by the FLRTC and FLTC: www.gofundme.com/mike-linehan-family-fund

Memories: Who doesn't have a Mike story to tell? Some of you probably have MANY Mike stories from over the years. We've many heartwarming and/or funny anecdotes and photos on Mike and Molly's Facebook timelines, and we want to do something special to preserve those memories for his family. So we're going to create a special book for his girls full of your memories of Mike. Between now and March 15th, send your stories and/or photos (with captions and identifying everyone in them), directly to Suzanne Bixby at suzanne@nystia.org. Use the subject line: Mike Memories. Be sure to include your full name and contact information, and if you remember, the month/year/location your story happened. If you know a famous Mike quote or saying, send that along, too. We hope to have this project completed by the conference in April.
