The new digital destination puts local experiences, events, and accessibility at the forefront of exploration throughout Suffolk County, Long Island
LONG ISLAND, NY (October 5, 2026) - Discover Long Island (DLI), the region’s only accredited destination marketing organization, is proudly unveiling its newly redesigned website, introducing a more immersive, editorial and user-focused digital experience built around the ways people explore Long Island today.
The new DiscoverLongIsland.com goes beyond traditional trip planning to serve both visitors planning a future getaway and Long Islanders looking for something to do right now. The redesign is influenced by the habits of how consumers plan their trips. Today, consumers search for inspiration and experiences in real time, increasingly through mobile and AI. Over the last 12 months, the organization’s prior website saw more than 1M active visitor sessions, with the top page visits to Things to Do and Events. DLI’s AI-powered digital travel assistant “LiLi,” had also been receiving the greatest number of requests around what to do and where to go, therefore, this new site design proactively drove these aspects to the forefront.
With discovery at the heart of the experience, the new website makes it easier to find what is happening across Suffolk County and the greater Long Island region, whether someone is planning a first visit, searching for this weekend’s events, or deciding where to explore that day.
“We wanted to enhance our digital profile for an experience that reflects the way people actually discover Long Island today,” said Discover Long Island President & CEO, Sharon Wyman. “This new website is not simply a place to plan a trip. It is a place to be inspired, uncover something new, find what is happening now, and connect with the people, businesses, and communities that make Suffolk County so special. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a lifelong Long Islander, there is always something new waiting to be discovered.”
A More Immersive Way to Discover Long Island
Designed and developed in partnership with Noble Studios, the new website takes an editorial approach, combining expansive imagery, video, engaging content and authentic local perspectives in a magazine-inspired layout. Sweeping views of Suffolk County, Long Island’s beaches, vineyards, downtowns, parks, and landscapes are balanced with real people and experiences, creating a more authentic representation of the destination beyond traditional travel photography.
"We've loved our collaboration with Discover Long Island,” said Noble Studios CEO & Co-Founder, Jarrod Lopiccolo. “Their team had the vision to push for something truly forward-thinking, and together we created what we see as the future of websites. It brings the energy and beauty of Long Island to life while making it easy for visitors to discover all it has to offer. Highly discoverable, easy to use and very immersive, it's the perfect combination of brand and performance, moving people and the needle all at once.
Built for Visitors and Long Islanders
The redesigned site introduces enhanced tools and features that make it easier to turn inspiration into action, including:
- A stronger focus on Things to Do and Events: Visitors can browse a more intuitive events calendar with dates and category filters, including free, outdoor, and downtown events, making it easier to find something happening across Long Island.
- Simplified discovery: Improved navigation and search features make it easier to find activities, places to stay, and local businesses across devices.
- A more authentic Long Island: Editorial storytelling, immersive content, video and imagery featuring real locals provide a deeper look at the destination and the people who bring it to life.
- Enhanced accessibility information: The redesigned accessibility hub recognizes that accessibility needs are individual, organizing information by the specific needs of travelers rather than treating accessibility as a single category. The site also connects users with resources including Wheel the World, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, and I LOVE NY.
- Tools that help users take the next step: “LiLi” the AI Chatbot, interactive maps, immersive content, and connections to booking and partner websites help move users from inspiration to planning and, ultimately, experiencing Long Island. Discover Long Island was one of the earliest adopters of the AI travel website concierge in the Destination Marketing industry, first launching LiLi in September 2024 as a partnership with Satisfi Labs.
- Designed for AI discovery: Alongside traditional search optimization, the new site uses clearer content and structured data to help AI-powered search tools better understand and surface Long Island’s places, events, and experiences. This positions Discover Long Island to remain a useful source as residents and visitors increasingly turn to AI and ensures the organization remains the top resource for where these platforms pull their information from.
- Enhanced partner pages: Expanded partner profiles offer richer imagery, amenities, and upcoming events at a glance, while helping users discover nearby businesses and experiences. The goal is to encourage exploration beyond a single stop and inspire visitors to turn one destination into a deeper, full-region experience.
Looking Ahead
As Discover Long Island continues to adapt to consumer habits and inquiries, this new and improved website will continue to evolve throughout the coming year. International translations are slated to launch in early 2027, beginning with Spanish, French, and German, with additional languages planned to follow. Itinerary-building capabilities are also planned for 2027, giving users another way to turn their Long Island dream visit into reality. The new website is available now at DiscoverLongIsland.com giving visitors and Long Islanders a new way to discover what’s happening, find inspiration, and plan their next Long Island experience.
