NYSTIA & Wheresight 2027 Destination Digital Readiness Co-op

The destinations that thrive over the next decade will not simply market effectively. They will ensure their tourism businesses are digitally discoverable, AI-ready, and equipped to convert visitor interest into economic impact.

To help New York destinations prepare for this future, NYSTIA and Wheresight are developing a new statewide Co-op program.  The  Digital Readiness Program for you and your members is scheduled to launch in 2027 and will deliver a proven digital improvement program for tourism businesses in your destination.
We are now inviting Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), Convention & Visitors Bureaus (CVBs), and tourism promotion agencies to register their Interest and help shape this first-of-its-kind initiative. Participation is limited to 20 organizations.

How Whereisight Helps Destination Organizations Support Tourism Businesses

Why This Matters

Visitors increasingly rely on digital channels, AI-powered recommendations, online booking platforms, and real-time information when planning and experiencing travel. Yet many destinations can struggle to get a clear understanding of how digitally prepared their tourism ecosystem really is.
The NYSTIA-Wheresight Co-op will help participating destinations:
  • Establish a measurable baseline of digital and AI readiness across their tourism sector.
  • Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities within selected local tourism businesses.
  • Create a shared destination-wide standard for digital excellence.
  • Support local stakeholders with practical pathways for improvement.
  • Strengthen the effectiveness of destination marketing investments.
  • Position their destination competitively for the future visitor economy.
Rather than focusing solely on marketing outcomes, the program is designed to help destinations understand and improve the digital foundations that drive visitor engagement, conversion, and economic impact.
