We sell and market Greater Rochester as a preferred destination—for business and leisure travel—in order to grow and maximize visitor spending and to enhance the economy. Tourism plays a major role in the economy of Monroe County as well as the entire Finger Lakes region. To this end, Visit Rochester also advocates for appropriate destination development, investment and increased community awareness, and appreciation and support for the visitor industry. 

Visit Rochester builds and maintains relationships with hundreds of organizations and businesses in the community that work to attract visitors to Monroe County, in turn growing the overall economic impact of the tourism and hospitality industry in the county and the Finger Lakes region as a whole. We are a membership-based organization with more than 400 members that represent local lodging, retail, restaurants, services, and community organizations that all strive to provide the best visitor experience.

Job Description/Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • First point of contact at Visit Rochester
  • Answer and distribute all incoming phone calls
  • Welcome and engage with all visitors
  • Provide visitor support
  • Handle all outgoing mail
  • Maintain internal CRM system for visitor requests and packets
  • Assist in entering and approving special event requests
  • Oversee bulk distribution and member brochure inventory
  • Generate and send member invoices/ review and contact members to collect past-due invoices
  • Solicit and record in-kinds for frontline and office needs
  • Create and monitor schedules for Visitor Information Specialists Team
  • Assist Membership Department with member retention and administration, events, and committee work
  • Assist with every aspect of the Visitor Services Department- taking the lead on college/ universities events, festivals, and frontline training

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.


Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience, frontline/ customer service experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Business insight
  • CRM Database
  • Microsoft Office Suite
