The presentation covered their research findings on financial sentiment, traveler sentiment, and travelers' expectations.

The most significant findings are as follows:

  1. Financial Sentiment:
    1. Travelers are feeling better off financially than they were one year ago.
    2. The proportion of Americans who feel it is a "good time" to spend on leisure is only marginally above last year in July.
    3. Recessionary concerns continue to diminish.
      1. For the first time under 50% of travelers expect to enter a recession in the next 6 months.
      2. The proportion of travelers exercising spending caution due to recessionary concerns remains high.
  2. Traveler Sentiment:
    1. Travel sentiment remains generally strong, even though travelers are grappling with elevated travel costs.
      1. The current travel sentiment index was stable in July.
      2. Excitement to travel remains at near-record highs.
    2. Elevated travel prices continue to impact travel decision-making.
      1. 41% say high prices have kept them from traveling this month.
      2. 32% say that high prices have led them to cancel an upcoming trip.
  3. Expectations of travelers for the next 12 months:
    1. Travelers predict less price gouging and labor shortages, more crowding frustrations and AI being involved in their travel planning.
    2. TikTok and Podcasts keep rising for how travelers get inspiration for travel, and the travel planning windows keep shrinking.
