Job Description/Responsibilities

The Director, Digital Advertising Sales, is responsible for driving strategy and revenue for New York City Tourism + Conventions digital portfolio. They will serve as the advocate for their clients both internally and externally. They will grow and develop new and existing business and be a strategic advisor to their clients and internal teams. Success in this role requires a focus on relationship management, client education, campaign measurement, and the ability to tell a strong story that shows NYC Tourism + Conventions' ability to deliver against client goals. This role reports into the Vice President, Digital and Media.

This role requires a strategic thinker who is adept at integrating paid, owned, and earned marketing, with a strong understanding of the media and advertising landscape, and the ability to execute strategies swiftly and effectively.

Job Requirements:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for key accounts to drive revenue through custom and digital media solutions
  • Execute strategic sales strategy that includes online and in-person client and agency touchpoints to increase brand awareness and perception
  • Own full lifecycle of pipeline including research, proposal building, and presentations
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Creative and Content, Media, and Development teams for brainstorms and to ensure appropriate product mix is pitched maximizing performance and revenue
  • Maintain sales pipeline and forecast within the CRM
  • Deep understanding and ability to articulate New York City T+C’s unique value proposition to unlock new revenue opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of key vertical market trends and customer opportunities
  • Assess and advise on sponsorship opportunities that maximize NYC Tourism + Conventions portfolio messaging and build brand recognition
  • Manage KPIs for partnership packages and sponsorships in collaboration with media planning and sales team and continuously adapt based on audience and business needs
  • Create standards and best practices for media sales, partnership and sponsorship opportunities to drive consistency and scale across the organization
  • Provide regular updates across the company on sponsorships, initiatives and activations to share learnings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years of experience in digital advertising, ad sales, or brand marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to execute creative sales strategies and campaigns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate and optimize based on the value to prospect and business
  • Experience managing advertisers throughout the funnel with a deep understanding of their challenges and objectives
  • Experience building relationships with top marketing decision makers at brands and agencies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact and influence effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Discretion and trustworthiness in dealing with confidential information
  • Strong understanding of the legal and compliance regulations in the advertising space
  • Well versed in the ad tech landscape and evolving trends including programmatic, verification and measurement partners like IAS, DV, DSP’s and SSP’s, cookies and privacy
  • Ability to analyze data and identify insights to improve campaign performance
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve quickly and through the proper escalation channels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in troubleshooting with technical and product teams
  • Capable of translating technical details for non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in Adobe
  • Fluency with ad trafficking platforms

This position qualifies for a commission-based incentive package.

Salary Range:

$110k - $120k
