Born and raised in Syracuse, Sarah attended college on Long Island. She returned to Central New York to begin her career as a news reporter, but a love of politics drew her to Albany, to work in the NYS Legislature. From there, Sarah moved to Chelsea Piers in Manhattan where she was part of the public relations and special events team for one of New York City's most visited attractions (ask her which celebrities and pro athletes she got to meet!).
For the past 20 years, She has called the Capital Region home, with clients that include: I Love NY; New York Susquehanna Basin Water Trail; Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor; Metroplex/Discover Schenectady; Cycle the Erie Canalway and City of Rome.
As a former journalist, she knows how to tell a good story—and she's not afraid to ask tough questions to help her clients make the best decisions. After living and working across New York, she jumps at any chance to help build awareness, attract visitors and spur economic development in the state she is proud to call home.
"NYSTIA was one of the valuable stakeholders participating in our 'working group' sessions to launch the Canalway Challenge. Recently, I participated in Bob Provost and Amanda Dana's thoughtful discussion on the rising role of heritage tourism at the New York Association of Towns Annual Meeting in Manhattan. I was deeply impressed with the recent growth of NYSTIA and look forward to meeting fellow members."
Sarah lives near Lock 7 and Lions Park, in Niskayuna, NY, one of the most popular segments of the Empire Trail. As part of the creative team that launched the first Canalway Challenge for the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, she continues to complete a 90 mile challenge each summer, biking and rollerblading miles along this gorgeous part of the trail. She was also recently elected to the Niskayuna Town Board and understands the role local, state and federal government partners play in supporting tourism efforts.
