Cayuga County, NY — The Cayuga County Office of Tourism is pleased to announce that the 2026 Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail is now live, returning for its lucky 13th year and is inviting residents and visitors to discover some of Cayuga County’s most delicious destinations during a self-guided adventure filled with homemade favorites, local flavors, and seasonal fun.
Running May through October, the award-winning Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail encourages participants to explore 26 sweet stops across Cayuga County at their own pace. This year’s trail features 20 returning locations and six first-time participating businesses, giving trail-goers even more reasons to experience the delicious offerings that make Cayuga County memorable. New trail partners for 2026 include Auburn Bagel Company, Sweets by Sarah Bakery, Rowans Bar & Grill, Mazza Cravings, Believe Bakery, and Bradt Road Maple.
“Sweets by Sarah Bakery is located in the heart of little Fair Haven. We are proud to be a scratch made bakery and we are so excited to be part of this year’s Sweet Treat Trail,” said owner and lead baker Sarah Brown. “We are known for our delicious one-pound cinnamon rolls. We hope to see you all at the bakery!”
This year’s trail theme, “Stars, Stripes & Sweet Treats,” celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with a classic Americana dessert tour with a Cayuga County twist. From hometown bakeries to talented local makers, Sweet Treat Trail partners are serving up timeless favorites and creative confections inspired by sweet traditions. It is a red, white, and delicious way to explore local flavors, support small businesses, and connect with the farming community in New York’s top-producing agricultural county.
Whether trail-goers are craving ice cream, baked goods, maple products, chocolates, pastries, donuts, or farm-fresh specialties, the Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail offers a wide variety of stops that highlight the creativity and quality of Cayuga County’s small businesses and agricultural community.
“The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail is such a unique Upstate New York offering in its mission of promoting local businesses that feature sweet treats. We are lucky to have the Cayuga County Office of Tourism. Year in and year out, new customers discover our Reese’s Dairy Bar through the promotional efforts of the trail,” said Jamison Mills, owner of Reese’s Dairy Bar. “From local maple syrup from Smokey Hollow on our Maple Bacon Sundae to our Ultimate Ice Cream Sammies featuring the delicious cookies from XL Cookie Company, the cross promotional opportunities the trail provides its members is invaluable.”
This year’s trail also includes a prize giveaway. To enter, participants can visit a participating business, snap a photo, and upload it to www.bit.ly/SwtTreats. Each additional stop visited provides more chances to enter and win a prize full of sweet treats. A drawing will be held on September 2, 2026, for two Sweet Treat Trail Baskets.
The Cayuga County Office of Tourism will also be out on the trail throughout the summer, hosting a Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail table on Wednesdays at the Owasco Farmers Market and other locations around the county. Visitors are encouraged to stop by, say hello, and learn more about the trail and the many sweet stops waiting to be discovered across the county.
Trail maps and brochures are available at the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn and at participating businesses. For more information about the Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail, including partner locations and a dedicated newsletter sign-up, visit www.tourcayuga.com/eat-drink/
