US Travel: EV Charging Funding Opportunity Available

The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a new grant program that will fund the installation of EV chargers and other alternative fuel infrastructure. The $700 million funding opportunity is part of the DOTs ongoing initiative to build a national charging network of 500,000 public chargers by 2023.

The DOT included US Travel's recommendations for eligibility for this program which means, State Tourism Offices (STOs) and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) will be included as eligible entities for funding under this program. And tourism destinations will be considered as eligible and competitive locations for charging infrastructure.

This will give our industry the opportunity to create sustainable change that is important not only to our travelers but also to the future of travel itself.

Keep an eye out, US Travel will be hosting a webinar to walk members though the application process, grant qualifications and competitive projects. There will be more details in the coming weeks.
