ROAM THE EMPIRE Weekly Update

Sep 3, 2021

- Happy September to all of our members! This past week, I was inspired by the number of exciting new tourism-boosting developments across our state. From exciting statewide developments to upticks in user-generated content on social media, the fall season has already given New Yorkers more motivations to explore all that our state has to offer.

NYS Breweries Recognized in ROVA Magazine:

Road Vacations and Recreational Vehicles (ROVA) Magazine has recently recognized dozens of NYS breweries in their most recent blog article: Great NYS Brewery Destinations. In addition, the stunning scenery of Sullivan County's The Upward Brewing Company in Livingston Manor was highlighted in their "Brew With a View" spread within their print edition. Read more...

Congratulations to Sullivan County and all of the incredible breweries featured for giving us all more (tasty) reasons to Roam The Empire!

New Canalside Camping with NYS Canals & Tentrr:

The NYS Canal Corporation is giving us all more reasons to Roam The Empire! As part of their Reimagine the Canals initiative, this new partnership with upscale camping company Tentrr is providing unique accommodations for visitors across four locations along NYS Canals and the Empire State Trail. Each site is fully equipped with canvas tents atop a raised platform, solar-powered "sun" showers, Adirondack chairs, and more in the Finger Lakes region. Read more...

Roaming Ahead
Next week is apple week! Send us your destination's NYS Wild Wednesday and NYS Foodie Friday submissions in advance so we can make sure they are included in each post. Don't forget to include at least one image, some copy and destination hashtags:

It's still apple week, so we're rounding out the weekend with apple and hard cider! Cideries can be on the orchard or in the city.

9/22 — Fall Foliage Spots

Whether you're leaf-peeping from the car, on top of a mountain, or even from the sky, there are so many ways to take in the beauty of NY's fiery fall foliage.

9/24 — Food Trucks

Stacks of pancakes, a friendly atmosphere, and a hot cup o' joe; the all-American diner is a community staple for generations.

Weekly Post Highlight:

Autumn is my favorite season, so I couldn't help but highlight this beautiful picture on Instagram from @russellhurlburt, a fellow New Yorker who was Roaming through Sullivan County. And with I LOVE NY's annual New York Fall Foliage Report coming up on September 8, our state's natural firey beauty is sure to draw crowds within each destination. Keep an eye out for prime leaf-peeping times in your area...we can't wait to see the photos!

Another week has come and gone, and I'm excited for what is in store with the Roam The Empire. It's amazing to see more participants joining the campaign, and real New Yorkers sharing the cause on their own social media. There is so much to be proud of when you live in our state. The last comment on the Weekly Post Highlight captures this sentiment perfectly:

"All of us who have been planted in NY are fortunate with the beauty we see every day.
I ❤️ NY"

See you next week,

- Rachele
