Interested In The Visitor Economy: Museums Want To Tell Their Stories

We completed the first half of our 2026 travel show season by showcasing your Tourism Champions Booth at the Museum Association of New York Annual Conference at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY.

We had a lot of interest from museums looking to connect with counterparts in tourism organizations in their local areas. The common themes we heard from attendees were:

  • Attendees are looking to collaborate more with others in their local communities.
  • Museums are looking for ways to market their stories and experiences in new ways to attract new visitors.
  • Attendees were also considering new ways to tell their stories and enhance the experiences of the attendees.

We will continue to work collaboratively with the Museum Association of New York's leadership to support museums as a vital part of the visitor economy across New York State. Stay tuned for further updates!

If you participate in the Tourism Champions program and have an updated travel guide, please inform Nate Gresock at nate@nystia.org.

Next Up: Old Erie Canal Heritage Park at Port Byron on the Thruway from May 1 to October 31, New York State Fair from August 26th to September 7th.

Join Us In The Booth At A 2026 Travel Show: It's a valuable and rewarding experience to meet travel intenders, answer their questions about New York State destinations, and share possible itinerary ideas. Use this link to choose an event.
