- Finger Lakes Visitors Connection is sending out this special newsletter to announce details of a special COVID relief virtual meeting for small businesses, along with some other special announcements happening in the Finger Lakes.

Small Business COVID Relief Virtual Meeting Planned

Finger Lakes Visitors Connection and the Ontario County Economic Development Corporation is holding a virtual meeting on Thursday, January 20 th at 8:30 a.m. as a follow up to the “Visit Ontario County COVID Relief Program" meetings held in December.

This will highlight the basics of the program again, but more importantly the process and deadlines for applying. Questions about timing and seasonality will be addressed- making sure that Ontario County tourism businesses can maximize your potential for success in acquiring these grants.

These grants are designed to help the tourism and hospitality industry, one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and an important economic generator for Ontario County. $1,000,000 is available through the “Visit Ontario County COVID Relief Program" to support small businesses in the hospitality and tourism industry create new jobs, restore jobs, or retain jobs that are at risk of being lost. $10,000 - $60,000 Grants Available for Tourism & Hospitality Businesses located in Ontario County with 25 or Fewer Employees.

Applications for the grants are now being accepted by the Ontario County Economic Development Corporation and will be evaluated using a standard rubric.

Brave Women FLX Taking On 100K Challenge

Registration is open for the Brave Women FLX Winter 100K Virtual Challenge happening now through the end of March. The event challenges women to get out this winter to move 100 kilometers, through traditional winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, skating, snowshoeing, walking, or running or any other way you can think of getting out there to move. Registration is $20 and you'll get a Brave Women FLX swag pack. There are special itineraries designed for you to head out and support local women-owned businesses while you work to complete the challenge.

Brave Women FLX is a campaign that launched in January of 2020 to celebrate the 100 th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote. The movement now celebrates the history of women in the Finger Lakes, as an epicenter of the women's right movement in the United States.
