2023 NYSTIA Annual Meeting: Photos and Slide Decks

Sep 25, 2023

Over 200 members of New York State’s tourism industry gathered at the NYSTIA Annual Meeting, which featured a keynote from Christopher Thompson, President & CEO of Brand USA, workshops and panel discussions on destination management, marketing and stewardship, and reports from NYSTIA committees, advisory boards and task force groups on sustainable tourism practices, DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility), workforce development, and advocacy, and an I LOVE New York presentation on international marketing programs for 2024.

The event's success wouldn't have been possible without our partners, presenters, and team. Huge thank you in particular our market host Visit Rochester (Shout out to Don Jeffries, Amanda Fox, Greg LaDuca, Rachel Laber-Pulvino, and Wendy O'Duffy!) for their incredible hospitality and for putting together the unforgettable "Roots of Rochester FAM Tour" on Wednesday afternoon and the Rochestarian "Build Your Own Garbage Plate" afterparty on Thursday evening. Thank you to NYSTIA Annual Meeting presenting partners Rove and Miles Partnership for bringing us insightful presentations on Thursday and Friday (well done, Geoff Lacher, Julie Armstrong, Danae Jones & Kim Palmer!), and our New York State Tourism Excellence Awards presenting partner Advance Media New York / NY Up who provided another fantastic Sizzle Reel for our ceremony (huge thank you to Bridget Cerrone & Matt Sourwine!). Kudos to the Strong National Museum of Play (thank you, Sara Poe!) for the unforgettable FUN provided at the Awards ceremony and reception! And finally, thank you to the staff at the Hyatt Regency Rochester for their sincere efforts to provide a quality experience to our attendees.

“NYSTIA’s role in supporting and growing New York State’s tourism industry was evident to all in 2023,” notes Corey Fram, newly elected Board Chair. “NYSTIA plays a key role as the convener of our industry to pursue initiatives and best practices in tourism workforce development; sustainability; stewardship; advocacy; diversity, and inclusion; and marketing the great state of New York. Tourism is a vital industry from New York City to the 1000 Islands and every corner of the Empire State. I fully expect and intend that NYSTIA’s momentum will continue to build and deliver positive outcomes for our industry, our state, and our destinations in 2024!” View all newly-elected board members.
