Finger Lakes Visitors Connection is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, with its principle funding coming through Ontario County and its mission to grow Ontario County through positive economic development initiatives.

We are a small team of about 7 people and partner with our neighboring counties and local chambers and BIDs to promote tourism to the county. When you join FLVC you are joining the third oldest and third largest Finger Lakes tourism promotion agency in the region. You will be working with passionate industry partners within Ontario County, the Finger Lakes Region and all over the world. Your work will contribute to the positioning of Ontario County's tourism industry as a major contributor to developing the destination organization of the future. Our roles are as curators of our destination, adopters of business intelligence, catalysts for economic development, activists in placemaking in our communities and collaborators within our strategic networks.

Job Description / Responsibilites

As our Destination Concierge, you will shape and curate inspiring and informative experiences for guests who are “on the ground" traveling as well as guests who are considering traveling to our area. You are an expert listener, needs translator and FLX enthusiast!

You will support team members with light research to produce reports on visitor interests, consumer experiences, business development data, and trends. You'll assist the business manager and others as requested in office organization and management. You are a Jack of All Trades, a flexible team player and have a keep interest in consumer motivation.

What you'll do:

Visitor Information and Hospitality Services

  • Act as key receptionist for walk-in business as well as phone calls.
  • Provide a visitor friendly environment, preparing and sharing guest experiences at all FLVC places; assist in hosting and guiding visitors as requested.
  • Ensure that our visitor information outlets (electronic and physical) are updated, well maintained and stocked with brochures and other informational assets as needed.
  • Ensure that visitor inquiries receive prompt, accurate and courteous responses through multiple communication channels.
  • Assist in data mining on visitation to our area and trends in customer interests.
  • Assist in organizing FLVC networking functions, events and promotional activities to facilitate success, promote engagement, and reflect positively on Finger Lakes Visitors Connection.

Supervisory Responsibilities, Professional Development, and Advancement

  • The Partner and Community Engagement Manager provides indirect supervision to assigned interns and creative services vendors.
  • This position reports to the Director of Business Destination Development; with an opportunity to advance in leadership.
  • Annual professional development opportunities on a wide spectrum of timely topics are continually offered. The organization values education, networking, and professional associations.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications or hospitality, political science, or business.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in marketing, hospitality or partner development or with a convention/visitors/tourism bureau, hotel related business.
