Christopher Guidone

President, Big Picture Tourism

Chris will speak on Friday, April 23

About Chris Guidone:

A leader in inbound international tourism to the US, Chris started his tourism career at the Philadelphia CVB, where, after focusing on motor coach and group travel for four years, was promoted as the cities' first director of international sales in response to the increase in daily non-stop flights to Europe on US Airways. Additionally, in Philadelphia, he worked on a project funded by Visit Philly and the Delaware River Port Authority to develop cruise industry port call business and weekly Celebrity Cruises to Bermuda for the Port of Philadelphia and Camden.

In 2004, Chris launched his company, Big Picture Tourism Consulting, LLC and was contracted by Empire State Development (I LOVE NY) to educate tourism-related businesses throughout New York State about the benefits of building international visitation. Additionally, Chris was tasked with selling New York State's tourism assets to US-based inbound tour operators looking to increase contracts with hotels, attractions and local guide services. Seven years later, this work culminated in the release of NYC+, a comprehensive statewide product guide, making the purchase of New York State's tourism products more focused and simpler for purchase by international wholesalers and ultimately consumers.

In 2013, Chris relocated to Manhattan and picked up once again with marketing New York State's investing destinations and private sector businesses to international travel trade, this time with a not-for-profit marketing and representation company called Wine, Water & Wonders of New York State.

A proud member of NYSTIA, Big Picture Tourism has built relationships globally over many years, actively engaged with various offices of the US Commercial Services, in-country Visit USA Committees, US Travel Association, International Inbound Travel Association and DMOs and CVBs within New York as well as nationally.

Chris was a past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of HSMAI and is a current member of NY SKAL.

With a keen interest in travel, photography, the arts and culture, there is likely no cuisine he hasn't sampled.
